Reach Falls is operated by the Urban Development Corporation which was established in 1968 through an Act of Parliament and charged with the responsibility of being a developer in the public interest. The UDC is therefore the principal public sector organization responsible for planning and designing urban environments in designated areas of Jamaica. It is also the entity charged with preparing, developing and implementing plans for urban development, urban renewal and rural modernization. The UDC aims to improve the quality of life for people in the areas where it serves and to be a catalyst for development by both the public and private sectors. The Corporation, through its development programs, has significantly improved the coverage and quality of public infrastructure while introducing alternative patterns of urban settlement.
